FIR against Aprarupa Poddar for pushing a cop during NIA raid
A tragic accident occurred on Road No. 11 in the Chembur area of Mumbai when a large tree collapsed onto a school bus, resulting in the death of one student and leaving at least 10 others injured. There were a total of 13 children on board the vehicle at the time of the incident. Emergency rescue teams rushed to the site and immediately began cutting through the branches of the fallen tree to free one child who remained trapped inside the crushed vehicle.
Following the collapse, the injured students were quickly evacuated and transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. Some of the victims were rushed to Jain Hospital, where several remain in serious condition, while four other students are currently undergoing treatment at Zen Hospital. The accident took place as weather conditions worsened, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy showers and thunderstorms for Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs.
In the wake of the tragedy, local residents expressed severe anger and alleged systemic negligence by municipal authorities. Community members claimed they had repeatedly submitted written requests to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) urging them to trim or clear the hazardous trees, pointing out that a similar tree-falling incident had already occurred in the exact same neighborhood. Despite these multiple warnings from citizens, no preventive action was taken by the civic body.
